Tattoo Pricing Cheat Sheet: Size, Detail, Time

No two tattoos cost the same, but this should clear up the big numbers before you walk in.

Tiny (up to 2")
A word, a symbol, or a micro-line doodle. Half an hour to an hour. $100 – $250.

Palm-size
Small flower, bold dagger, anything that fits your hand. One to two hours. $250 – $500.

Hand-size
Portrait, color neo-trad animal, or similar detail. Three to five hours. $500 – $900.

Half-sleeve or thigh panel
Dense linework, mixed shading, touch of color. Two half-day sessions. $900 – $1,800.

Full sleeve or back piece
Multi-scene epic, full color, big commitment. Several full-day sittings. Starts around $2,000.

*NYC rates, our shop minimum is $100. Your quote may land higher or lower after we see the art or based on where you live.

Why the number might change

  • Color vs. black-and-grey: more inks, more passes.

  • Placement: ribs, neck, and feet slow everyone down.

  • Detail: micro-lines and smooth blends eat clock time.
